Things to do in Jibhi, Himachal Pradesh

Let me take you to the most soothing place I found in Himachal recently. Located in the Seraj Valley of Kullu district, Jibhi is a village located across the river. There are many places in Himachal which are still not touched or commercialized much and Jibhi is definitely the one where you get all the amenities without struggling to adjust in the crowd.

Here in this blog I’ll tell you all about the places to visit in Jibhi, things to do, best time to visit, and everything you need to know about Jibhi.

Places to visit in Jibhi

Mini Thailand:

Mini Thailand, Jibhi

Mini Thailand is a Beautiful hidden gem and a perfect spot to dive in the cold and crystal clear water flowing right through it. Put Forest Rest House Jibhi in Google map and when you reach this spot, you will see a yellow colored board of “Forest Rest House”. On the opposite side of the road, you’ll see a trail going down, just follow that path and keep moving in left direction until you see a water pipe and there you’ll see Mini Thailand spot at the bottom.

Tip: Try to visit around 12 or 1pm when the sun is there so that you can take a quick dip in the water feeling that adrenaline rush refreshing all your thoughts.

Jibhi Waterfall:

Jibhi Waterfall, Himachal Pradesh

Located in Jibhi Waterfall is a little waterfall where you’ll see rainbows if you visit early morning. It is a tourist place in Jibhi and the best season to visit this waterfall is during rains.

Jalori Pass:

Jalori Mata Temple, Jalori Pass

Located at an altitude of 3100 meters, Jalori pass is known for the alluring view it provides with all those huge pine trees and and the sunsets here are just fabulous. It is a 12kms uphill ride from Jibhi and from Shoja it is just 7kms away. If you don’t have your own vehicle, you can hitch-hike or take the local bus from Jibhi or Shoja or you can walk up if you are fit enough.

Also, Did you know that Jalori Pass is famous for the most amazing scene from the famous and every traveler’s favorite movie “Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani”?

Jalori Pass

Well, you must plan a trip to Jibhi and go to Jalori Pass. When you recognize it yourself, don’t forget to tell me in the comments which scene was it.

Tip: Best time to visit: It is accessible throughout the year except when there is too much snow and roads are blocked but then also you can hike.

Serolsar Lake:

Seruvalsar and Manimahesh Lake

Serolsar Lake is a high altitude lake located at about 3100 meters above the sea level. It is an easy yet beautiful trek of 5kms from Jalori Pass.

Surrounded by thick pine and oak forests covered with all green meadows around, the trail itself made me so happy that I couldn’t wait to see the Lake soon.

It is a small, pristine lake with water so blue. The water is so clear that you can see the reflection of the surroundings in it. Locals say that even if one tree leaf falls in the lake, the birds come and pick it out to keep it always clean.

To have the best experience, don’t forget to camp near the lake or at Jalori Pass for a night. It gets really cold on the top, so wear enough layers to keep yourself warm.

Raghupur Fort:

It is another day trek from Jalori Pass to Raghupur Fort. It takes around 1.5 hours to reach the fort from Jalori Pass and you will get an incredible 360 degree view of the entire valley. During snow, it is another adventure as it is completely covered in snow. I could not manage to go there but it is definitely a must try.

Chehni Kothi:

Chehni Kothi, Himachal Pradesh

Named after the village Chehni, Chehni Kothi is an old himachali style building made of only stones and wood without using cement. You need to hike for 1 hour from the Shringa Rishi temple in Bagi village near Jibhi. If you want to go by car, make sure you are comfortable driving in steep and rough patches in the mountains. There are actually two towers one is the taller one which we call Chehni Kothi and then there is one more which has been turned to a temple now. There are wooden stairs on the fortress but outsiders are not allowed to climb the stairs.

You can also spend sometime in the village or at the café nearby. There is a different kind of peace in the village that made me really happy.  Also, I found this guy at the cafe who offered me local drink of apple (must try :D).

Great Himalayan National Park:

One of the top places to visit in Jibhi is Great Himalayan National Park. Apart from experiencing the flora and fauna of the forest, you can also do fishing here. In order to visit this place, you need to take special permission before hand. I could not have the chance to visit this place but I have heard a lot about it and if you can manage, you must visit.

Best time to visit Jibhi

For me, every place has its different vibe in different weather. Still the best time to visit Jibhi is:

Winters- (December to February) to experience snow-capped mountains.

Peak Season – (March to May) when the weather is pleasant.

I found it awesome even in September and October, so it all depends on you what you want to experience.

Possible options to stay in Shoja

Shoja is located 7kms uphill from Jibhi and is still not very much open for tourists with limited options to stay. Shoja comes on the way while you are traveling from Jibhi to Jalori Pass. If you like peaceful places rather than staying in touristy ones, you must stay here in Shoja.

  • Stay at The Hosteller (backpacking hostel) – It comes with all the basic luxuries you need. Super comfortable beds in dorms, amazing interiors, and a very welcoming staff. They have various options to stay in Dorms or a private room. They have pretty decent café with good quality of food even being located at this place with limited facilities. Living in a hostel is itself a different experience altogether. You can book your stay through their website here or DM on Instagram @thehosteller.
  • Satyam Homestay (home stay/guest house) – It is a little home away from home. The owner is extremely welcoming and helpful. Also, they serve super delicious and home like food. You can easily get a room at a budgeted price. They also have discounts on long term stays and is a perfect place for workation with amazing view. Rooms are also decent with a good view.  If you wish to book your stay with them, you can do it directly there or reach out to their Instagram handle @satyam_homestay

Apart from this, you will find 3 to 4 more homestays and guest houses around but some are quite costly and some require negative covid19 report as well.

Possible options to stay in Jibhi

Maple Outhomes:

View from Maple Outhomes, Jibhi

I recently came across these beautiful river-side cottages by Maple Outhomes. They have luxurious rooms and an ample of other facilities such as Natural swimming pool, river side view, bonfire area, BBQ station, and a decent café. You can either stay in a Dorm sharing it with other people or you can stay in their private cottages which can accommodate 3 to 4 people.

checkout more here.

Tree House Jibhi:  This is on the expensive side but the experience of staying here is totally worth. It is also known by the name “The Hidden Burrow”. Situation right across the river away from the main road, Tree house as the name says are the beautiful tree houses equipped with all the possible luxurious amenities, private kitchen, balcony, mini library and an ample space for a family to stay in.

You can either book online or reach out to them on their Instagram @treehousejibhi.

Apart from these, there are ample of homestays and hostels you can stay in. Jibhi is gradually getting commercialized with a lot of options for tourists to stay in. Treehouse, Hostalgic, Lato the Hut (Pinewood Cottages), these are the few other places I would recommend if you wish to stay in JIbhi.

Cafes you must visit in Jibhi and Shoja

I am sharing the list of few cafes I visited in Jibhi and I found the food

  • Reverbrate Café (Negi’s Place), Jibhi:

I think so far this has been the best café I found in Jibhi considering the location and the food quality. Apart from the main course, the sizzlers, burger, pizza and the deserts here are amazing. And the place gives you completely chill vibes.

  • Satyam Homestay (with Bonfire), Shoja:

Just 700 meters from my stay at the Hosteller, Satyam home stay is another good and budgeted place to plan long stays in mountains here in Shoja. You can also go for food here because they cook awesome Punjabi style food (both veg and non-veg). If you wish to book your stay with them, you can reach out to them on Instagram @satyam_homestay.

  • Hari Om Café:

Before leaving Jibhi, don’t forget to try the famous local dish here named as “Siddu”. Siddu is a dish made in every house here but after trying at few places, I found Hari Om Café’s Siddu the best.

  • Hopes café:

Though I never got to visit myself, I heard about this little café from few people here. They don’t have any good view or anything but they have amazing food here.
