An ultimate guide to planning a trip to Spiti Valley

To plan a trip to Spiti Valley, all you need is to pen down the information such as best time to visit, things to do in Spiti depending on the duration of the trip and of course the budget. With the budget, comes the hotels or homestays that you must consider to stay.

I stayed at Hotel Delek House (check reviews here) in Spiti Valley which is hardly 800 meters from the city center of Kaza. City center is the main market of Kaza, where you’ll find cafes, food, rental bikes, shared taxis, and all that you need while traveling to Spiti.

Delek House Hotel, Kaza, Spiti Valley

I chose Delek House because it is not a homestay but a hotel with all comfort, but the specialty of this place is it is cozy, comfortable, and gives you the feeling of being at home with generous staff and a very humble owner (you can reach me out to get in touch with him, you might get some discount too. **wink). Also, the food is really good and fresh that is a bit hard to find at other places in Kaza.

A place for those who have money constraint and are not looking for a comfortable stay

If your budget is very low, you can also plan your stay at other homestays. My personal suggestion as what I observed would be a stay at Mah Bodha homestay. It is a homestay provided by a traveler like us who settled in Spiti since the time he visited and now Kaza is his home. It is not as luxurious as Delek house but it comes with basic facilities.

Best time to visit Spiti Valley

Well, if it was in my hand, I would stay in this heavenly place forever. Anyways coming out of my fantasy world, the best time to visit Spiti Valley is from June to October. Those who seek for out of the world experience and extreme adventure also visit Spiti valley in late December or January. Also, all the trekking and adventure enthusiasts who are looking for long treks around Spiti Valley and want to spend at least a month in Spiti Valley, you can check out our blog on Treks to do in Spiti Valley.

Talking about the winters, weather in Spiti Valley is always unpredictable, so I visited in June and even then I had to carry one sweatshirt and one jacket even during daytime.
