No Matter how many time do I try to become “Anotherâ€, I fail.
I’ve seen people try single-heartedly to become who they are not and they somehow succeed. And, here I am puzzling around the reasons for failing at it perennially.
My journey to becoming Another began since the time I was thirteen and it culminated exactly after thirteen years when I turned twenty-six after I realized to write “Every Girl’s Untold Storyâ€, my debut novel.
Honestly, I don’t even remember how many times I failed, but I do remember that one moment of reverence when I realized I never want to be “Anotherâ€. I love who I am and it is the only thing that makes my soul happy.
I would like to bring a few instances to light from this sole experience of trying to become another and how I failed every time.
Maybe all these encounters from my past improve somebody’s present. I know chances are tiny, but then even a tiny hope of light can illuminate the surroundings, right.
When I was thirteen, I wanted to become a doctor just like my father is. Yes, I wanted to be “Anotherâ€. Little did I consider what I was actually good at. Even a drop of blood makes me sick and I was aiming to dive in the pool of blood.
When I turned fifteen, I finally gave up on learning to cut frogs and rats in the biology lab. There began one more journey to become “Anotherâ€. I now wanted to be like my favorite cousin and hence, I opted mathematics as my core subject and began dreaming to be an IITian. Of course, I failed again. Though I totally agree it is not everyone’s cup of tea to be in IIT but then that’s the whole point, right? “Trying to be Another.â€
After another failure came one more and this time unfortunately or fortunately, I became “Anotherâ€. A software engineer with hardly any interest in coding/programming languages.
Well, rest all you already know, how I (Tiya) eventually succeeded, by not becoming “ANOTHERâ€.
Be who you are, don’t try to become another.
